Biography: |
I grew up on a small farm in rural North Dakota. My passion for art began as early as I can remember. I began by drawing the things that filled my childhood surroundings, tractors, animals, and people. I won my first award at the age of nine and began to study art at the age of twelve. After high school I moved to Arizona to study photography and art at Arizona State University. I now believe, “You can’t be taught to be an artist, you are born an artist."
I am a very private person and it has taken me several years for me to share my work with others. Signing the back of the painting rather than the front allows me to conceal my identity and let my artwork take center stage. I find inspiration through my life experiences. My paintings are an outlet of my inner most feelings and the world around me. The mediums I use consist of acrylics incorporated with natural materials, modeling pastes, charcoals, glazes and water manipulation. I mostly paint with my hands; it allows me to be unrestricted and to feel the emotions of the colors and textures. Creating something that is entirely my own, that is how I want to be remembered.
